چکیده

Laser ablation has many uses in industry, including laser drilling and thin-film deposition. However, the underpinning physics of not been fully elucidated. In particular, differences behaviour plasma plumes ablated from different materials, which material properties are related to plume characteristics, require further study. This paper presents results modelling photocatalytic materials using 2D hydrodynamic code POLLUX. The evolution key parameters such as density temperature is investigated when target changed titanium tantalum, zinc, copper, aluminium gold. It was found that atomic number significantly affected electron mass subsequent plume, with both increasing number, whilst other density, thermal conductivity melting did affect or particle plumes. These provide insights for future experiments where aim change material, but keep constant possible.

Laser Ablation of Metals

Laser ablation is the process of removing material with very intensive, pulsed laser radiation. It is a technology which gains increasingly greater importance for drilling, eroding, welding, structuring and marking of all kinds of materials. With the advent of ultrashort picoand femtosecond pulses especially, a large number of new processing methods were developed. A deeper understanding of the...

The role of laser wavelength on plasma generation and expansion of ablation plumes in air

We investigated the role of excitation laser wavelength on plasma generation and the expansion and confinement of ablation plumes at early times (0–500 ns) in the presence of atmospheric pressure. Fundamental, second, and fourth harmonic radiation from Nd:YAG laser was focused on Al target to produce plasma. Shadowgraphy, fast photography, and optical emission spectroscopy were employed to anal...

Resonant holographic interferometry measurements of laser ablation plumes in vacuum, gas, and plasma environments

Resonant holographic interferometry and dye-laser-resonance-absorption photography have been utilized to investigate the expansion of the laser ablation plumes produced by a KrF excimer laser beam (248 nm) focused onto an aluminum target (-0.1 cm’, 2-6 J/cm’). Plume expansion was studied in vacuum and in background argon gas pressures of 14 mTorr, 52 mTorr, 210 mTorr, 1 Torr, and 35 Ton: The ex...
